November 18, 2019 Cocktails and Culture on a Sunday Afternoon San Diego's been gifted with a bout of unseasonably warm weather this month. My alma mater is located up there) off, my sister and I ventured out for an afternoon with the San Diego Symphony. What an afternoon it was. "Bach, Bloch and Don Quixote" was the title of the program and it featured renowned cellist Alisa Weilerstein as the main soloist, accompanied by the San Diego Symphony led by Rafael Payare, the organization's new music director and Ms. Weilerstein's husband. Ms. Weilerstein is a capable and expressive performer. Her interpretation of Richard Strauss' Don Quixote definitely was well-received by the Jacobs Music Center audience and she, Mr. Payare and the orchestra got an enthusiastic ovation after the performance ended.
